Installation overview

The following sections describe the installation of the double girder travelling crane.

If possible, the crane should be completely assembled on the ground (both main girders and end carriages) and the assembled crane then lifted onto the crane track:

─     First of all the two end carriages are screwed onto the main girders.

─     The crane travel drives are then connected on the ground.

─     The safety butters are then installed on the ground. See Installing the safety buffers.

─     Afterwards, the towing arm of the mobile control is assembled. See Assembling the towing arm of the mobile control.

─     Damage to paintwork is also repaired (see Repairing damage to paintwork) and the operating direction signs are attached (see pageAttaching operating direction signs).

─     The crane is then raised onto the crane track using a lorry-mounted crane. See Lifting the overhead travelling crane onto the crane track.

─     The trolley is then installed (see Installing the trolley), and the trolley power supply is attached (see Installing the trolley power supply) and connected.

─     For a crane with two trolleys, the second trolley is installed in the same way. See Installing the second trolley.

─     Finally, the mains power supply is installed (see page Installing the mains power carrying fork (MCF)) and the cross-type limit switch is installed for the crane travel limit switch (see Installing the cross-type limit switch).

─     As a final step the screws of the end carriages are tightened with the correct tightening torque. See Bolting on the end carriage.

If there is little space available on the ground or the building area is too cramped, the crane can be assembled on the crane track. In this case, lift the two end carriages individually onto the crane track and fasten securely (e.g. with screw clamps). Then lift the two main girders individually between the end carriages and bolt them on.

If an 8-wheel crane is to be mounted, see Installing the 8-wheel crane.
