The tandem control system can be retrofitted as a component on two suitable ABUS cranes.
Since this changes the way the crane works and hazards can occur which do not occur with cranes without tandem control system, an acceptance test has to be carried out following major changes. See “General Product Manual for ABUS Cranes”.
In addition, a new risk assessment must be prepared and a new Declaration of Conformity must be issued.
ABUS recommends having the tandem control system retrofitted by ABUS-Service. See ABUS Service.
Overview:
Install the power pack and
safety PLC in the crane panel of both cranes.
Mount the light barriers
to both cranes.
Install the signal lamps
on both cranes.
Wire up all the components
in accordance with the wiring diagram.
Carry out an acceptance
test following major changes. See “General Product Manual for ABUS Cranes”.
Draw up a risk assessment
which takes the new hazard situations with both cranes in tandem operation into
account.
Issue a new Declaration of
Conformity for the cranes in tandem operation.
