If the crane with tandem control system does not function, or does not function as expected, a fault in the tandem control system (on the safety PLC) may be the cause.
The signal lamps (white, yellow, green) are flashing:
● A fault has occurred.
● The fault has occurred on the crane on which the signal lamps are flashing.
● The tandem control system is blocked, the cranes can no longer be used in tandem operation.

Fault |
Possible cause |
All three signal lamps (white, yellow, green) are flashing. |
Fault in the light barrier area (for transmitting the release signal): The release signal from another crane on the same run has been transmitted but should not have been transmitted. |
The light barrier relays are faulty. |
Another crane with tandem control system is moving on the same crane track. The release signal from this crane has mistakenly met the light barrier of the crane on which the signal lamps are flashing.
Button for crane travel is not pressed: White signal lamp is flashing. |
Fault in the crane travel area: The release signal 'crane travel' of the respective crane has been received but should not have been received. |
With frequency converters for crane travel: The contactor for brake monitoring is faulty. |
With contactor control: The release contactor is faulty.
Button for crane travel is pressed: White signal lamp is flashing. |
Fault in the crane travel area: The release signal 'crane travel' of the respective crane has not been received but should have been received. |
The release contactor is faulty. |
With frequency converters for crane travel: Wrong brake feedback.
With frequency converters for crane travel: There is a fault in the frequency converter.
Button for trolley travel is not pressed: Yellow signal lamp is flashing. |
Fault in the trolley travel area: The release signal 'trolley travel' of the respective crane has been received but should not have been received. |
With frequency converters for trolley travel: The contactor for brake monitoring is faulty. |
With contactor control: The release contactor is faulty.
Button for trolley travel is pressed: Yellow signal lamp is flashing. |
Fault in the trolley travel area: The release signal 'trolley travel' of the respective crane has not been received but should have been received. |
The release contactor is faulty. |
With frequency converters for trolley travel: Wrong brake feedback.
With frequency converters for trolley travel: There is a fault in the frequency converter.
After switch-on, button for lift/lower is not pressed. Green signal lamp is flashing. |
Wrong feedback from the safety switch of the load-controlled switching point. |
One of the relays in the safety switch of the load-controlled switching point is faulty. |
Button for lift/lower is pressed: Green signal lamp is flashing. |
Fault in the hoist area: The release signal 'hoist' of the respective crane has not been received but should have been received. |
The release contactor is faulty. |
With frequency converters for lift/lower: Wrong brake feedback.
With frequency converters for lift/lower: There is a fault in the frequency converter. |
