Inspecting the ribbed drive belt and tension rollers

 

The pictures show the procedure on a GM 1000 modular wire rope hoist. The procedure on GM 800 does not differ significantly from this.

Rib screw M8x12

*   Unscrew the rib screw M8x12 (2x) on both sides of the belt guard.

*   Slew the belt guard past the wheels and remove it from the top.

*   Inspect the ribbed drive belt carefully and check for any damage.

Examples of damage:

─     There must not be any cracks.

─     No threads may protrude from the side of the ribbed drive belt.

─     No threads may be visible in the valleys.

*   If the ribbed drive belt is damaged: Replace the ribbed drive belt. See Replacing the ribbed drive belt and tension rollers.

*   Inspect the tension rollers (2x). They must not exhibit any damage and must be easy to turn.

*   The outer wheel flanges on the tension rollers must not exhibit any damage.

*   Inspect the bolt and SL safety clips. The bolts must be in place and be secured with SL safety clips.

*   Inspect the tension springs (2x). Both tension springs must be in place and may not be broken or deformed.

*   If components are missing or damaged: Replace the components. See Replacing the ribbed drive belt and tension rollers.

 

 

Installing the belt guard

*   Attach the belt guard from above and slew it past the wheels.

*   Fit the belt guard onto the trolley frame.

*   Tighten belt guard with rib screws M8x16. 25 Nm.
