If the ribbed drive belt or the tension rollers are damaged, they must be replaced.
The pictures show the procedure on a GM 1000 modular wire rope hoist. The procedure on GM 800 does not differ significantly from this.

Belt guard |
Rib screw M8x12 |
Unscrew the rib screw M8x12 (2x)
on both sides of the belt guard.
Slew the belt guard past the
wheels and remove it from the top.
Tension roller |
Ribbed drive belt |

Unhook the tension springs
(2x).
Remove the SL safety clips (4x)
and the bolts (4x).
Remove the tension rollers (2x)
and unthread them from the ribbed drive belt.

Danger of crushing! When a motor is used to run down the ribbed drive belt, fingers may be caught between the ribbed drive belt and wheel. This could cause crush injuries to fingers. Wear gloves. Only allow the trolley travel motor to run at slow travel speed. Use aids to move the ribbed drive belt. |

Wheels |
Observe the occupational health
and safety regulations and raise the wire rope hoist on the motor-driven side
(e.g. jack it up) so that the wheels can turn freely.
Use aids (e.g. tool, wooden
slat) to push the ribbed drive belt towards the main girder and run the trolley
travel motor at slow travel speed.
● The pressure of the wheels causes the ribbed drive belt to slip and move towards the main girder.
Allow the trolley travel motor
to run until the ribbed drive belt falls from the wheels.

Wheel |
Ribbed drive belt |
Place the ribbed drive belt on
the belt-driven wheel onto the belt pulley.
Place the ribbed drive belt onto
the motor-driven wheel.
Make sure that fingers cannot be
crushed and that the trolley travel motor is running slowly.
Push the ribbed drive belt
towards the trolley frame.
● The ribbed drive belt moves towards the trolley frame.
Allow the trolley travel motor
to run until the ribbed drive belt is seated on the belt pulley of the
wheel.
Place the wire rope hoist with
all wheels back on the main girder.

Tension springs |
To make installation easier:
Press the ribbed drive belt together using cable ties.
Thread the tension rollers (2x)
onto the ribbed drive belt.
Fasten the tension rollers using
bolts (4x) and SL safety clips (4x).
Hook the tension springs (2x)
into place.
Remove the cable ties.

Attach the belt guard from above
and slew it past the wheels.
Fit the belt guard onto the
trolley frame.
