Check before beginning work and switching on

Working with two cranes in tandem operation:

Check the following points before beginning work in tandem operation. If there is any damage or problems arise, do not work with the crane; inform coworkers and supervisors.

Switching on

*    Check whether the two cranes are not being used independently of one another by another person.

*    Allow the crane to come to a complete standstill. Do not switch to tandem operation during travel.

*    Activate tandem operation at the transmitter.

See the radio remote control product manual.

Check the signal lamps

Check before working in tandem operation:

Precondition: Tandem operation is switched on at the transmitter.

*    Check the signal lamps.

●   All four signal lamps on both cranes are lit.

The green, yellow and white signal lamps show whether hoist, trolley or crane are in the limit switch range.

The red signal lamp lights up when the transmitter has been logged in.

Test the travel limit switch

Check before working in tandem operation:

Precondition: Tandem operation is switched on at the transmitter.

*    With braking function: Check the braking function of both cranes and trolleys in tandem operation.

*    With shut-down: Check the shut-down of both cranes and trolleys in tandem operation.

●   With braking function: As soon as one of the cranes (one of the trolleys) reaches the switching point for the braking function, both cranes (both trolleys) brake completely (intermediate stop) and can then only continue travel at low speed.

●   With shut-down: As soon as one of the cranes (one of the trolleys) reaches the switching point for shut-down, both cranes (both trolleys) brake completely and come to a standstill.

Testing the hoist limit switches

Check before working in tandem operation:

Precondition: Tandem operation is switched on at the transmitter.

*    Check the hoist limit switch of both hoists in tandem operation.

●   As soon as one of the load hooks reaches the switching point of the top emergency limit switch, both hoists brake.
