Checking the wear on the guide rollers

The wear on the guide rollers is checked based on the clearance between the guide rollers and the trolley track.

*   Measure the distance between guide roller and trolley track on both sides.

*   The distance (between guide roller and trolley track) may not be larger than 5 mm on both sides.

If the distance is greater than this, the guide rollers must be replaced.

Determining the diameter for new guide rollers

If the distance between guide roller and trolley track is too large (see previous section), the guide rollers must be replaced.

During operation of the wire rope hoist however, both the guide rollers AND the trolley track are subjected to wear. Since only the guide rollers can be replaced, they may need to be exchanged for larger ones than were previously used in order to compensate for the wear on the trolley track.

*   If possible: Measure the diameter of the guide roller above the trolley track.

This area of the guide roller frequently has no contact with the trolley track and can therefore be used to determine the original diameter.

*   Determine the diameter of the new guide roller:

─     The distance between the guide rollers and the trolley track should be as close as possible to 5 mm. This applies to the entire length of the trolley track.

─     The distance between the guide rollers and the trolley track may not be less than 5 mm. This applies to the entire length of the trolley track.
