The area in front of the lower end carriage is monitored by two light barriers for each travel direction.
When one of the two light barriers detects an obstacle in the travel direction:
● The crane halts.
Remove the obstacle.
Run the crane briefly in
the opposite direction.
Continue crane travel in
the desired direction.
Simply releasing the button for crane travel and then pressing it again will not restart the crane, even if the obstacle has been removed. The crane must be briefly run in the opposite direction as an additional safety measure.
The obstacle detection sensor only functions in the travel direction. Obstacles on the other side of the crane (which the crane is currently travelling away from) are not detected.
In certain situations it can become necessary to continue running the crane even though the obstacle detection sensor detected an obstacle (e.g. just in front of a building wall).
