This section only applies if the top and/or bottom hoist limiter may be travelled to during normal operation.
The switching point of the top and/or bottom hoist limiter may be planned to be travelled to during normal operation. The hoist limiter must be checked with the crane at the start of work.
If the hoist limiter microswitch becomes worn during regular use, a backup limiter ensures switch-off. This backup limiter must be checked within the course of regular inspection. This backup limiter must be checked within the course of regular inspection.
Move the load hook out of
the limit switch range (up or down).
The load hook may not be within the limit switch range prior to the test.

Turn the toggle switch to
the ‘top’ position and hold.
Raise the load hook up
slowly.
● The load hook moves up.
● Due to the activated toggle switch, the load hook does not stop as usual at the switching point of the top hoist limiter, it moves onwards instead.
● The backup limiter is activated.
● The main contactor switches off.
● The backup limiter has now been checked.
If the main contactor did not switch off:
● There is a problem with the crane circuitry or individual components. The crane may no longer be operated.
Shut down the crane.

Turn the toggle switch to
the ‘bottom’ position and hold.
● The crane switches back on.
● Wait about a minute while the ABULiner is restarted.
Move the load hook out of
the limit switch range.
Check the backup limiter
for the bottom hoist limiter as described above. In doing so, reverse the
directional instructions.
Switch the crane back on
as previously described. In doing so, reverse the directional instructions.
