Checking the overload protection [2]

The overload protection must be checked within the scope of the regular inspection, and in the case of an overload, switch off the lifting motion.

Prerequisites for the test of the overload protection:

─     This work step requires a test load.

─     The dimensions of the test load must be known exactly.

─     The dimensions of the test load should be at least 80% of the maximum load capacity of the crane and as close as possible to the maximum load capacity of the crane.

Because the overload protection reacts at an overload of 110%, the factor for measuring the overload can be temporarily reduced in KranOS. This enables the overload protection to also be triggered with a test load that lies under 110% of the maximum load capacity of the crane.

For this work step, access from a laptop or tablet computer to KranOS is necessary. The user "Abnahme" (commissioning) (user level ‚[2]) must be logged in.

Calling up parameters for the hoist profile

Overview: Navigation in KranOS

User "Abnahme" (commissioning) à "Hoist" à "Hoist profile parameter"

* Log in as user "Abnahme" (commissioning) (user level [2]) in KranOS. See Connecting laptop or tablet computer with ABUControl, page  .

* Select the desired hoist (e.g. Hoist 1) in the main menu.

●   The window for the requested hoist appears.

* Click on the "Hoist profile parameter" menu item in the "Settings" menu (gear wheel on yellow background).

Reducing the "Overload factor"

"Overload factor" field

●   The "Hoist profile parameter" window appears.

* In the "Overload factor" field, enter a factor through which the present test load will become an overload.

* Click on the "Write PLC" button.

Lifting the test load

* Observe the applicable occupational health and safety regulations and lift the test load.

* The overload protection must trigger.

●   The display on the LED matrix display flashes.

* Set down the test load.

Resetting the overload protection

* Switch off the crane at the circuit isolator or mains switch.

* Wait 60 seconds.

* Switch the crane on again.

●   ABUControl will restart.

●   The overload factor will be reset again.
